Northridge House Education & Research Centre at St. Luke’s Cork.

The Education Centre at St Luke’s Home is an embodiment of the St. Luke’s Mission of continuing to provide high quality care to the Older Person in the city and beyond. The centre was officially opened in 2012 by President Michael D Higgins and is named after the Northridge family, whose generosity facilitated the creation of a unique Vocational Training Centre.

The maxim of “Enhancing our Caring by On Going Training” is emblematic of this commitment. Courses are geared towards the needs of those who provide care for the Older Person – be it within a Residential Care Centre, hospital or home setting. Training is provided by accredited and experienced facilitators operating within a robust quality assurance structure. The centre provides courses on site in our State of the Art Centre, off site in care centres and some programmes are in part provided online.

In addition to providing training to meet the standards expected by HIQA and the other statutory bodies the Education Centre continues to enhance the breath of training it can provide. The centre is a an accredited and registered QQI provider offering modules in the Major Award of Healthcare Support (Level 5) and Various Management Modules (Level 6).

The centre has partnered in various research projects that focus on enhancing the well being of the older adult, their families and staff. The centre hosts an annual conference which focuses on current needs in Senior Care and innovative responses
