Sick or in Hospital?

Illness and/or being in hospital can be a difficult time disrupting our daily routine and way of life. The Church cares for you and your loved ones during times of illness or when you are in hospital. Every hospital and healthcare institution in County Cork has a dedicated chaplain providing 24 hour pastoral ministry in collaboration with colleagues from other denominations and the wider healthcare team. The list of chaplains for Cork City can be found here; and that for Cork County here.

While the chaplains proactively visit each hospital regularly they also welcome contact from you if you are in hospital or from your family.

If you are being admitted to hospital and you would like to meet with a chaplain you are welcome to contact the chaplain of the hospital or to ask hospital staff to make contact for you.

The chaplains are available to all patients regardless of religious belief and offer  listening presence, accompaniment, spiritual support, prayer and sacramental ministry in accordance with your wishes.

In cases of emergency admission to the larger Acute Hospitals in Cork City a family member can contact the on-call chaplain via the Switchboard at Cork University Hospital (021) 454 6400
