Readers

Readers are lay people  – women and men – in the Church of Ireland, from all walks of life, who are called by God, theologically trained and licensed by the Church to preach, teach, lead worship and assist in pastoral, evangelistic and liturgical work.

The office of Reader, governed by Canon 35, is a lay ministry which is voluntary and nationally accredited.  Readers are licensed by the Bishop.
