served as Bishop of the United Dioceses of Cork, Cloyne and Ross.

He was the longest serving bishop of the dioceses since 1617.

During the Vacancy in See a Commissary is appointed by the Archbishop of Dublin who has the guardianship of the spiritualities of the Diocese.
